The Ministry of the Interior emphasizes that inaccurate data in the MGVDIS regarding the residential address has negative consequences for residents seeking necessary and essential services and hinders state and municipal institutions from performing functions assigned to them by law.

Why is your accurate residential address important?
Declared residential addresses are used by Lithuania Post, emergency services, and public institutions in their activities.
If the address is inaccurate, you may encounter the following difficulties:
- Letters, parcels, or other important information (related to pensions, pension certificates, benefits, neighboring territories' construction plans, etc.) may not reach you.
- Medics or firefighters may delay in finding the location of the emergency.
- Important letters from other institutions (e.g., courts, bailiffs, police, etc.) may not reach you.
Why could the address be inaccurate?
- Boundaries of residential areas have changed.
- Settlement names have emerged or changed.
- Building or premises numbering has changed.
- The building's address is not in the Address Register or the Real Estate Register.
- Inheritance documents have not been arranged.
- Buildings where people reside are not legalized.
- Addresses not provided for buildings.
- Objects registered in the Real Estate Register have been demolished, divided, or merged.
- A person has moved abroad without informing the declaration authority.
- A person's residential address is declared on a land plot.
